Dear Mr Israel Shamir,

The aim of this e-mail is to make sure that everyone is fully aware of the arrangements for the Queen Birthday Party (QBP).

As you know, the QBP will be held on Thursday 16 June from 16:00 - 18:00.

The British Embassy in Tel-Aviv will be open to business as usual from 09:00 until 13:00.

I will hold a short briefing meeting for all guests at 16:00 at the Main Embassy Reception. All quests will be issued with badges to make it easier for guests to identify a member of staff and guests.

We all know from experience that guests start to arrive before the official start and leave after the official end of the party.

As you already know, Her Majesty Ambassador will be attending the QBP. He is coming for a short half-day visit and will be using the Residence to freshen up. Jointly with the Consul General and Mrs CG they will form a receiving line to greet guests. After the receiving line, members of the Embassy staff will be allocated to help move guests into the garden, thereby avoiding a bottleneck in the parking area.

We expect the majority of guests to have arrived by 16:45 when HMCG and HMA will make short speeches and toast The Queen (for which champagne will be specially served). British and Israeli national anthems will be performed by members of the boys' choir.

There will be three bar stations and one beer station located at various parts of the garden. Food will be served as pass-around. We have booked two groups of musicians to play throughout the reception. A small brass band will play for the first half, before the speeches, and a Ceilidh band will play after the speeches.

A couple of practical points:

- Parking will not be available to all cars except official.

- Cloak rooms are in the basement. I would recommend that you do not bring any valuable personal belongings and also make alternative arrangements for changing if you don't want to share the room with strangers.

I hope this is all clear. Please ask me if you have any further questions.

Sincerely yours,

Tim Waite, esq

Deputy Head of Mission
